Get ready to explore the old town of Lima, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is full of fascinating historical buildings. Start the tour with the Larco Museum, located in the traditional district of Pueblo Libre and housed in a beautifully restored viceregal mansion, which itself is built on top of a 7th century pre-Columbian pyramid. The museum has a very complete pre-Hispanic collection of gold and silver objects, as well as pieces of erotic art. Next, head to the Casa Aliaga, a colonial mansion granted in 1535 by the conquistador Francisco Pizarro to one of his captains, Jeronimo de Aliaga. This is the only house of the period that still belongs to the same family.
Continue with a scenic tour of the colonial center. Visit the Plaza de Armas, where you can appreciate the grandiose architecture of the Spanish Empire. There you will find its magnificent Cathedral, built in the 16th century. At the end of the tour, return to the hotel in Lima.

- DAY 3 | LIMA - CUSCO / CITY TOUR AND ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES NEARBY (90 min flight)
-
Breakfast at the hotel.
Transfer from the hotel to Lima airport. Once you have landed at the airport in Cusco, one of our representatives will be waiting for you to transfer you to your hotel (it is suggested to book a flight that arrives before 11:00 hrs).
In the afternoon, you will enjoy a guided tour of this charming city, which was the capital of the Inca Empire. The tour begins with a visit to the Convent of Santo Domingo, which was built over the Inca temple of Coricancha, one of the most important precincts dedicated to the cult of the sun. Ancient chronicles say that its walls were covered with gold leaf and filled with golden representations of nature. Afterwards, you will visit the Cathedral, the most imposing monument in the Plaza de Armas. Then head to the hills of Cusco where the fortress of Sacsayhuaman is located, whose imposing walls offer an impressive panoramic view of Cusco. Continue to Qenqo, an archaeological complex of religious use where it is believed that the Incas practiced rituals related to agriculture. Your tour ends at Puca Pucara, in Quechua "red fort", a military complex located on a hill. You can still see its dwellings, plazas, baths, aqueducts and towers. It is believed that it was used by the Inca entourage while the leader rested in Tambomachay. After the visit, return to your hotel in Cusco.

- DAY 4 | CUSCO - MARAS - MORAY - CUSCO
-
Breakfast at the hotel.
This day we will drive through the Sacred Valley to the archaeological site of Moray, which is about an hour and a half away. Like many Inca sites, its exact function remains a mystery, although its design in the form of ever-widening concentric circular terraces implies that each level had a different microclimate. Continue to Maras, where salt ponds create a dazzling backdrop. The thousands of small ponds provide work and help feed many local families. In Inca times, the salt deposits were an important economic center and of great value to the imperial economy.
After the tour, return to your hotel in Cusco.
**During the months of December to March (rainy season), you will visit Chinchero, the village of Maras and chicherías, instead of the salt mines. In these months, you have the option to replace this tour with a visit to Valle Sur.

After arriving at the Aguas Calientes station, our guide will be waiting for you and accompany you to the bus departure point. You will then take a bus for the 25-minute ride uphill to Machu Picchu, known as the "lost city of the Incas".
It is believed that this archaeological site was built in 1450 by the Inca Pachacutec as his vacation home. However, a century later, the city was abandoned after the Spanish conquest, escaping the destruction that struck other Inca settlements. Throughout the guided tour, you will have the opportunity to learn about the origins of this impressive citadel and explore its most outstanding monuments.
After completing the tour, you will take the bus to Aguas Calientes, where you will enjoy lunch at the restaurant of your choice.
*Lunch time may vary depending on the entrance to the citadel.
