DAY 3 | BOGOTÁ

Breakfast at the hotel.

At the agreed time, we will begin a tour of the Bogotá savanna until we reach the city of Zipaquirá, whose name means "city of our Father" in the Chibcha language. In pre-Columbian times, saline springs were exploited in this region to produce "salt breads," a strong currency with which the Muiscas traded. Over time, technology changed and tunnels began to be dug to extract larger quantities of salt.

The Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá stands in these ancient underground galleries, 180 meters below the surface. There is a small miners' chapel there in homage to the Virgin, Our Lady of the Rosary of Guasá (this word means 'mine' in Chibcha). At the end of the visit, we return to Bogotá. Accommodation.
